My newest creation issued for the 200th Anniversary of the July 4th, 1817 Groundbreaking Ceremony marking the start of the historic Erie Canal. The original event was held in Rome, NY. The new pin's first public distribution will be on July 4th, 2017 at the opening of the Erie Canal Bicentennial Exhibit at the Rome Historical Society.
In searching for a pin design, I was dissatisfied with existing paintings of the event-. I contracted with a local artist to provide a new vision of the event in the style of early 1800's folk art wood carving. That then served as the base for the new design.
The pin is approximately 1.5" in diameter. In order to better secure it in an upright position, I added a longer tooth on the back next to the spike. It comes with a metal butterfly clasp.
The back displays "Proudly Made in U.S.A."
